Cost Accountant Job Description

We are seeking a motivated cost accountant professional to join our finance team.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Product Costing and Analysis: Assist in costing, variance analysis, and cost control activities
  • Management Accounting: Support preparation of MIS reports, cost sheets, and management dashboards
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Help in preparing annual budgets, forecasts, and financial planning reports
  • Cost Monitoring: Work closely with procurement and production teams to monitor cost drivers
  • Internal Audit: Maintain and analyze data for cost audits and internal controls
  • Documentation and Compliance: Ensure proper documentation and compliance with company policies and standards
  • Process Improvement: Assist in internal audit processes and help in identifying process improvements
  • Cost Reconciliation: Reconcile cost accounts with financial accounts on a periodic basis
  • Inventory Management: Prepare and maintain reports related to inventory valuation and consumption analysis

Key Skills Required:

  • Cost Accounting Knowledge: Strong knowledge of cost accounting, standard costing, and budgeting concepts
  • Technical Skills: Good command of Excel, Tally, and ERP software (SAP preferred)
  • Financial Data Analysis: Ability to analyze financial data and present insights clearly
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Knowledge of Indian Accounting Standards (IND AS) and GST (basic level)
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Personal Qualities: Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and eager to learn

Educational Qualification:

  • CMA Certification: CMA Qualified (Institute of Cost Accountants of India)
  • Experience Considered: Candidates who have completed CMA Inter with experience may also be considered
