Job Title

A highly skilled Database Administrator is required to oversee the reliability, performance and scalability of our database infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the integrity and availability of database systems across multiple environments.
  • Collaborate closely with application teams to develop solutions that integrate seamlessly with our database systems.
  • Implement best practices for supported datastores (primarily MySQL and PostgreSQL) and enforce security protocols to prevent unauthorized access.
  • Work on observability of relevant database metrics and ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Provide expert guidance on database migrations, queries and performance optimizations to engineering teams.
  • Work with peers (DevOps, Application Engineers) to roll out changes to production environment and mitigate database-related production incidents.
  • Develop and maintain documentation on database configurations, processes and procedures.
  • Perform regular system monitoring, troubleshooting and capacity planning to ensure scalability.

Requirements:

  • At least 4-8 years of experience running MySQL/PostgreSQL databases in large environments.
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP).
  • In-depth knowledge of the internals of MySQL/PostgreSQL.
  • Knowledge of load balancing solutions such as ProxySQL to distribute database traffic efficiently.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Knowledge of caching solutions (Redis/Elasticache).
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (Python).
  • Experience with infrastructure automation tools (Terraform/Ansible).
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
