Job Title: Aquaculture Operations Manager

Fish Welfare Initiative is hiring a skilled Aquaculture Operations Manager to oversee field operations and maintain strong relationships with farmers. This role requires previous experience managing people and farmer relationships, as well as a passion for animal welfare.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Manage 3+ team members in day-to-day operations of the Alliance for Responsible Aquaculture (ARA) program, ensuring timely and accurate data entry.
  • Supervise the implementation of ARA protocols and experiments, conducting regular audits and quality control checks to ensure adherence.

Farmer Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with ARA farmers, obtaining crucial information at timely intervals to update our records.
  • Spend 50%+ of your time in the field engaging with ARA staff, farmers, and other stakeholders, fostering collaboration and trust.

Scaling and Strategic Assistance

  • Provide critical input during strategic meetings with leadership, driving key decisions that shape the future of the program.
  • Lead the process of enrolling new farms in the ARA program, identifying opportunities for growth and improvement.

Requirements

  • Nationality: Right to work in India.
  • Experience with field programs: At least 1 year of experience managing field programs in development, environmental protection, or animal advocacy sectors.
  • Language: Fluent in oral and written Telugu and English.
  • Location: Full-time presence in Eluru, Andhra Pradesh required, with extensive field work in surrounding villages.
  • Transportation: Ability to drive a motorbike or scooter on rural roads.

Ideal Candidate

  • Education: Bachelor's degree or greater in Fisheries, Aquaculture, Social Sciences, or related sciences.
  • Technical expertise: Previous experience with water quality analysis and management in aquaculture, preferably with certification.
