Mainframe Storage System Engineer

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the availability, reliability, and performance of our storage infrastructure.

This role requires strong technical skills and experience with Mainframe storage subsystems, architecture, and management.

  • Install, configure, and maintain Mainframe storage subsystems to ensure compatibility, performance, and reliability.
  • Perform storage capacity planning and provisioning to meet current and future storage requirements.
  • Configure and manage storage management software and utilities to automate storage administration tasks and improve operational efficiency.
Technical Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, and/or equivalent military experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in Mainframe storage subsystems, architecture, and management.
  • 8+ years of experience with storage management software and utilities such as DFSMS, DFSMSdss, and DFSMSrmm.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • IBM Certified Specialist - Storage Technical V2 or equivalent certification in Mainframe storage administration.
  • 5+ years of experience with Mainframe virtualization technologies such as z/VM and z/Linux.
  • 4+ years of experience utilizing DevOps practices and tools for Mainframe storage administration and automation.
Achievements and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be able to design, implement, and maintain efficient Mainframe storage solutions that meet business requirements. Key responsibilities include collaborating with system administrators, database administrators, and application teams to support data backup and recovery operations and data migration projects. The position also involves implementing and maintaining disaster recovery and data replication solutions for Mainframe storage systems.

We are looking for an experienced professional who can provide expert-level support and guidance on Mainframe storage-related issues. The ideal candidate will have excellent problem-solving skills, strong analytical abilities, and excellent communication skills.

  • Mainframe storage architecture and management.
  • Storage management software and utilities (DFSMS, DFSMSdss, DFSMSrmm).
  • Storage virtualization technologies (DASD, VTS, SAN/NAS storage provisioning).
  • DevOps practices and tools for Mainframe storage administration and automation.
  • Disaster recovery and data replication solutions.

The Mainframe storage engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve storage-related issues, optimize storage performance, and improve overall storage infrastructure efficiency.
