Big Data Engineer Opportunity

Welcome to this exciting opportunity to lead our team in the implementation of infrastructure via code and provide strategic advice/recommendations for the development and advancement of cloud technologies.

  • Main Responsibilities:
  • Implement infrastructure via code, focusing on scalability, security, and efficiency, and provide strategic advice/recommendations for the development and advancement of Microsoft Azure technologies.
  • Integrate and automate the delivery of standardised deployments, in conjunction with orchestration products such as DevOps with Terraform, ARM templates and other modern deployment technologies.
  • Act as the escalation point for level three issues related to cloud infrastructure, providing technical support and fault resolution, as well as guidance and mentoring of operational run teams throughout the organisation.
  • Evaluate business requirements and translate them into effective solutions that meet the needs of the organisation.
  • Maintain and deliver all relevant documentation for design, development, build, and deployment methods used, ensuring proper control of applicable code is stored and managed.
  • Provide support and guidance to all support teams.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline with relevant certifications in cloud technologies.
  • Experience working as a data engineer on cloud platforms.
  • Good knowledge of PySpark, Data Factory, and other related tools.
  • Comprehensive understanding of public cloud environments and industry trends.
  • Significant experience supporting, designing, and developing public cloud solutions via Infrastructure as Code.
  • Extensive DevOps experience, including automation and continuous integration.
  • The ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with diverse team members.
  • Demonstrated experience in security hardening and testing.
  • Proven ability in creating accurate documentation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work outside of standard office hours, and on weekends as required.
