Software Engineering Lead Position

This role involves overseeing the technical aspects of our operations. It requires strong leadership and problem-solving skills to drive results.

  • Overseeing day-to-day technical operations is a critical aspect of this position.
  • The successful candidate will assist in training new employees and reviewing the performance of high-achieving team members.
  • Developing and assigning work schedules/tasks is an essential function of this role.
  • Reviewing ongoing operations and resolving any issues that arise is crucial to success in this position.
  • The Software Engineering Lead will participate in design and code reviews to improve the quality of our products.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving production issues within agreed service level agreements (SLAs) is a key responsibility of this role.
  • Collaboration with cross-functional teams, including product, production support, and operations, is vital to delivering exceptional customer experiences.
  • The successful candidate will lead groups of engineers, working closely with scrum masters and management to coordinate and deliver projects.
  • Providing technical support to operations or other development teams is an important aspect of this role.
  • The Software Engineering Lead will review the work of peers and team members to ensure high standards are maintained.
  • Participating in planning sessions with team members to analyze development requirements, provide design options, and estimate workloads is a key function of this position.
  • Actively participating in team and status meetings, providing timely updates on individual responsibilities within projects to reporting managers, is essential.
  • Proof-of-concept (POC) work on new technologies/frameworks is also required.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • High technical credibility and strong programming skills, including proficiency in Java EE, SQL, JavaScript, JMS, REST, and SOAP.
  • Strong experience in Java frameworks, especially the Spring framework.
  • In-depth knowledge of software development principles, design patterns, and best practices.
  • A sound technical foundation in single and multi-tier architecture, web-based development, and Services Oriented Architecture.
  • Proficiency in Java, data structures, and algorithms, collections, and concurrency.
  • Solid experience with SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and triggers for Oracle databases.
  • Proficient use of source code management tools such as Git/bitbucket and build tools like Maven.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) processes and tools, including Jenkins.
  • Strong experience with Unix/Linux basic commands.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex integration issues.
  • Exposure to Apache Camel or other integration frameworks.
  • Ability to see the big picture while maintaining attention to necessary details.
  • Hands-on experience with data structures and algorithms.
  • Experience leading a team through all phases of the software development lifecycle.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with agile software development lifecycles.
