Education Specialist

The purpose of this role is to deliver the Girls Education Program at the field level, ensuring its successful implementation and achievement of desired outcomes.

• Develop a thorough understanding of Room to Read's Girls Education program design, objectives, and outcomes.
• Implement program activities as per design, maintaining fidelity and taking corrective action when necessary.
• Participate in program planning with Program Associate and other state-level staff, ensuring effective coordination and collaboration.
• Regularly attend weekly and monthly workshops to review and update plans, as well as participate in mandatory training for Social Mobilizers.
• Organize and lead family and community meetings, consultations with school staff, parents, and community members/organizations, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
• Discuss life skill content and issues with families and communities in a tactful manner, creating opportunities for networking and resource sharing.
• Conduct life skills sessions for 90 girls in batches, as per prescribed session content and agreed plan, facilitating regular meetings and discussions of Life Skills Clubs/Children groups.
• Plan and conduct group mentoring sessions for 90 girls in batches, recording each session and reporting progress to the Program Associate.
• Conduct individual mentoring sessions as needed, providing personalized support and guidance to girls.
• Set up and ensure proper functioning of Gender Resource Centers (GRCs) for life skills sessions, maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for girls.
• Map data as per risk and response protocol, making specific home visits and handling critical matters that may arise.
• Undertake regular school visits, organizing and conducting programmatic activities at school and community as per mutually agreed plan.
• Manage relationships with schools, communities, and respond to issues that may arise, ensuring high-quality home visits and outreach to families.

• Bachelor's degree in education/social sciences or equivalent/or higher.
• Minimum experience of 2 years (12 years of relevant experience in the education/development sector including internships).
• Good verbal and written communication skills in English and Hindi.

• Master's degree in education/social sciences or equivalent preferred.
• Counseling diploma and/or experience working on mentoring/counseling issues.
• Experience working on life skills/gender/adolescents.
• Strong planning and project implementation skills.
• Ability to work effectively with schools and communities.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Good interpersonal skills and a team player.
