Job Title: Community Outreach Specialist

This role involves leading the implementation of a girls education program at the field level, serving as the primary point of contact for the girls we work with, schools, and parents.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, be able to work effectively in a team environment, and have a strong understanding of social issues affecting girl participants.

• Program Planning and Implementation:
  • Develop a thorough understanding of our girls education program design, objectives, and outcomes.
  • Implement program activities according to design, ensuring fidelity and quality.
  • Undertake corrective action and incorporate feedback from supervisors for life skills sessions.
  • Participate in program planning with the Program Associate and other state-level staff.
  • Attend weekly and monthly workshops for plan-making and review.
  • Attend mandatory training for Social Mobilizers.
• Family and Community Engagement:
  • Have a comprehensive understanding of social issues, safety concerns, and child protection issues affecting girl participants.
  • Organize and lead family and community meetings and consultations with school staff, parents, and community members/organizations.
  • Discuss life skill content and issues with them tactfully.
  • Seek opportunities for networking at the local level and create a resource pool for referrals.
  • Facilitate visits of donors, INCO, and SO team members.
  • Support SO/INCO team members in conducting research/survey/study/data collection/baseline.
• Working with Girls:
  • Conduct life skills sessions for 90 girls in batches of 20-30, adhering to prescribed session content and agreed plans.
  • Form Life Skills Clubs/Children groups and facilitate regular meetings and discussions.
  • Distribute the newsletter GUPSHUP, initiate discussions around it, and hold follow-up activities.
  • Help girls develop wall magazines and write for state-level Gupshup.
  • Conduct group mentoring sessions for 90 girls in batches of 10-15, following prescribed content guidelines and recording each session.
  • Plan group mentoring sessions with the Program Associate.
  • Conduct individual mentoring sessions as needed.
• Setting up Life Skills Centers/Gender Resource Centers:
  • Establish a Gender Resource Centre (GRC) for life skills in schools/community for life skills sessions.
  • Ensure proper functioning and usage of GRC, as discussed with state GEP teams.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming space for girls.
  • Ensure the space is well-stocked with children's drawings/articles/expressions and update periodically.
• Home Visits:
  • Map data according to risk and response protocol, then make specific home visits.
  • Undertake regular school visits.
  • Handle critical matters arising from these interactions.
  • Organize/conduct programmatic activities at school and community, per mutually agreed plans.
  • Manage relationships with schools, communities, and respond to emerging issues.
  • Ensure high-quality home visits for effective mentoring and outreach to families.
• Record Keeping, Reporting, and Monitoring:
  • Update records of attendance and parent meetings regularly.
  • Prepare and submit weekly plans during weekly reviews.
  • Timely record keeping, updating data, and sharing analysis of various parameters like attendance sheets, parents meetings, dropouts.
  • Fille socio-economic profiles of the girls.
  • Regular physical verification of girls on a sample basis.
  • Periodic cohort risk assessment and analysis.
  • Flag issues of concern. Undertake risk mapping of the entire cohort.
  • Identify case studies of girls, schools/communities, and best practices and gather related data and information.
  • Maintain stock registers at school/center level.
  • Provide lists of materials required for girls to supervisors.
