Production Planning Expert

Key Responsibilities:

  • Jewellery Production Scheduling: Develop and execute comprehensive production schedules for all jewellery orders, taking into account order volume, lead times, resource availability, and production capacity.
  • Monitor production progress, identify potential bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions to ensure timely delivery.
  • Inventory Management: Manage inventory levels of raw materials, components, and finished goods to optimize production flow and minimize stockouts.
  • Lean Manufacturing: Implement lean manufacturing principles to streamline production processes, reduce waste, and improve overall efficiency.
  • Record Keeping: Develop and maintain accurate production records and reports, including production schedules, inventory levels, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Gemstone Supply Chain Management:
  • Develop and implement a robust supply plan for all gemstones, considering market trends, supplier availability, quality standards, and constraints.
  • Manage inventory levels of gemstones, ensuring optimal stock levels to meet production demands while minimizing holding costs.
  • Supplier Evaluation: Collaborate with the gemstone sourcing team to identify and evaluate potential suppliers, negotiate contracts, and build strong relationships.
  • Quality Control: Monitor gemstone quality and ensure adherence to industry standards and specifications.
  • Process Improvement:
  • Continuously analyze production processes and identify areas for improvement.
  • Implement new technologies and best practices to enhance production efficiency and quality.
  • Team Leadership:
  • Lead and mentor a team of production planners and coordinators.
  • Delegate tasks effectively, provide clear instructions, and monitor team performance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in production planning and control within a manufacturing environment, preferably in the jewellery industry.
  • Proven experience in managing gemstone procurement processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make informed decisions.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and other relevant software.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies.
