Job Title: Senior Electrical Systems Designer

  • Raise the technical expertise of your team to meet project demands.
  • Implement and measure delivery and quality processes.
  • Promote exceptional technical standards in all projects.
  • Conduct thorough technical reviews, peer checks, and contribute to design development.
  • Provide regular feedback to ensure effective protocols and processes are in place for continuous improvement.
  • Build strong professional relationships with team members, communicating openly about project progress.
  • Attend project meetings, disseminate information within the team, and collaborate with other teams.
  • Identify and address potential risk issues, following commercial and contracting procedures.
  • Manage delegated tasks to meet deadlines and flag resourcing concerns to the team leader.
  • Flag additional fees to the relevant authority.
  • Submit accurate timesheets on a weekly basis.

Key Competencies / Skills

Mandatory skills

  • The successful candidate will have proven experience in Building Services design, with significant experience in a similar role or a good track record.
  • A degree in Electrical Engineering is essential, along with membership to an accredited engineering body (e.g. MIET, CIBSE, INSRAE, ASHRAE).
  • A working knowledge of data center projects is required.
  • Strong electrical technical skills are necessary, including undertaking feasibility studies, developing concepts, and detailed design specification.
  • Familiarity with technical software such as Hevacomp, Amtech, Dialux, Relux is essential.
  • A sound understanding of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Project is required.
  • Fluency in English with excellent technical terminology knowledge is essential.
  • A valid passport is required.
  • Applicants must demonstrate good management and technical skills.

Desired Skills

  • An excellent working knowledge of South African National Standards (SANS), NBC, BS, NFPA, and other local codes would be advantageous.
