Job Title:

Lead Climatologist

Join a pioneering team to revolutionize marine and aviation intelligence.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Data & Modeling:
    • Curate climate datasets from ERA5, CMIP6, IMERG, HYCOM, CMEMS, buoy & radar archives.
    • Develop QPE (Quantitative Precipitation Estimation) and QCE (Quantitative Current Estimation) methodologies.
  • Forecasting & Validation:
    • Collaborate on AI-driven rainfall and ocean current forecasts.
    • Establish skill metrics and validation frameworks against gauges and station networks.
  • Domain Leadership:
    • Mentor the AI/ML team on climatological best practices.
    • Advise on extreme events, including monsoons, cyclones, storm surges, and turbulence corridors.
    • Impact & Translation:
      • Translate scientific outputs into actionable insights for Navy, Ports, Aviation, and Disaster Management.
      • Shape dashboards, tiles, and alerts to reflect climatological reliability.
    Qualifications:
    • PhD/Master's in Climatology, Atmospheric Science, Meteorology, Oceanography, or related field.
    • 10+ years research or applied experience in climatology/weather modeling/marine or aviation meteorology.
    • Proven expertise with datasets like ERA5, IMERG, CMIP, HYCOM, WaveWatch III.
    • Knowledge of assimilation techniques, including Kalman filters and variational assimilation.
    • Strong coding skills in Python (xarray, netCDF4, numpy, matplotlib); GIS a plus.
    • Track record of publications or operational contributions (IMD, INCOIS, IITM, WMO, ECMWF, or equivalent).
