Career Opportunity: Financial Operations Specialist

About the Role
This is a key position responsible for delivering financial operations services including processing journal entries, completing monthly and quarterly general ledger close activities, and submission of financials. The incumbent will perform moderately complex accounting and reporting activities such as understanding business context, detailed verification of business transactions, and quality balance sheet reconciliations.
Responsibilities
- Process journal entries and complete monthly and quarterly general ledger close activities in accordance with established deadlines;
- Perform moderately complex accounting and reporting activities including understanding business context, detailed verification of business transactions, and quality balance sheet reconciliations;
- Deliver moderately complex financial and management reports to support business decision making, including detailed analysis of P&L and BS items explaining the business context, drivers of variance/movement in balances that clearly explain overall business performance;
- Partner on new setup and changes in existing financial applications to ensure accurate and efficient financial recordkeeping;
- Partner to implement internal controls and ensure financial processes are performed timely, accurately, and in compliance with regulatory policies;
- Support and implement continuous process improvement, including simplifying and optimizing processes, improving data integrity, and applying current technology.
Requirements
- Post-secondary education in Accounting or Finance;
- Minimum 3-5 years' experience in financial operations, preferably in an accounting firm or large corporation;
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and generally accepted accounting practices (GAAP);
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills;
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team;
- Proficiency in financial software applications and systems.
