Lead Well Planning Engineer

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly experienced well planning engineer to lead the design, planning and execution support of coalbed methane (CBM) wells. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring technical integrity, cost efficiency and regulatory compliance in all aspects of well delivery.

The role requires excellent project management skills, with the ability to drive well delivery from concept to execution readiness. Strong knowledge of CBM reservoir behaviour and gas production mechanisms is essential, as well as proficiency in well design software and budgeting techniques.

The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of upstream oil and gas experience, with at least 3 years specifically in CBM operations. Proven experience in well design and engineering for low-pressure, unconventional gas wells is also required.

Responsibilities include leading well planning activities, preparing well designs and detailed Basis of Design, and designing fit-for-purpose completions. Additionally, the successful candidate will generate drilling and completion Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) and monitor actual versus budget costs.

Key skills include strong knowledge of CBM reservoir behaviour and gas production mechanisms, proficiency in well design software, and budgeting techniques. Excellent communication and project management skills are also essential.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Petroleum Engineering or related field
  • Over 10 years of upstream oil and gas experience, with at least 3 years specifically in CBM operations
