Key Role: Senior Manager

The purpose of this role is to oversee and strategize on end-to-end credit underwriting and monitoring of a portfolio of personal loans through a digital journey.

Accountabilities:
  1. Create and implement policies for credit underwriting based on different product constructs.
  2. Work closely with the data science team to analyze underwriting models, validate their performance, and identify areas for improvement.
  3. Determine performance benchmarks and take corrective action when necessary.
  4. Automate credit policies to minimize manual intervention in assessing creditworthiness.
  5. Determine the right pricing basis segmentation.
  6. Standardize policies and processes across the organization.
  7. Track portfolio profitability and funnel metrics, including risk thresholds.
Performance Monitoring:
  1. Analyze the portfolio and recommend policy changes to the policy head based on the outcome of the analysis.
  2. Conduct regular reviews of the existing portfolio and perform various analyses to identify high-risk segments.
  3. Take actions to mitigate identified risks based on portfolio performance.
  4. Monitor delinquent accounts to ensure achievement of company standards and benchmarks for delinquency.
  5. Identify technological solutions to improve existing processes and overall portfolio management functions.
  6. Analyze various management information systems (MIS) to monitor portfolio performance and risk.
Partner Integrations:
  1. Understand the products offered by new channel partners and the segments being catered to.
  2. Map the customer journey, identifying the set of information available with the channel partner and requisitioning additional data at application time.
  3. Create policies based on the product, available information, and prevailing models.
  4. Facilitate data room exercises for new segments of customers.
  5. Formulate policies considering expected loss rates.
  6. Monitor the implementation of policies, UAT, and production test runs, clearing any bottlenecks that arise.
Relationship Management:

Establish and maintain relationships with partners, credit reporting agencies, and assist in all credit operations.

Requirements:

  • Postgraduate degree in finance/statistics/management from a reputable institution.
  • Preferred qualifications: BTech with MBA.

Experience:

  • Minimum 7 years of experience, with 3-4 years in risk management and policy creation.
  • Fair understanding of risk performance.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Superior stakeholder management skills – working closely with internal functions (business development, credit and policy, data science, legal, technology, operations, collections, customer success) and external stakeholders.
  • Hands-on experience working with large structured and unstructured datasets using data processing and statistical tools.
  • Data-driven, analytical approach, and team player.
