Senior Backup Engineer Position

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Backup Engineer to lead the management and troubleshooting of backup and recovery solutions in our data center environment. This critical role demands expertise in backup tools and tape libraries to ensure seamless data integrity and availability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, configure, and manage backup solutions for regular data backups, ensuring efficient data recovery processes.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to backup jobs and tape libraries, maintaining high system uptime and optimal performance.
  • Test backup and recovery processes to guarantee data integrity, adhering to stringent security protocols and best practices.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of backup procedures and recovery plans, facilitating easy reference and knowledge sharing.
  • Collaborate with IT teams on data protection initiatives, promoting a culture of reliability, trust, and excellence.
  • Monitor backup systems for performance and capacity, proactively addressing potential bottlenecks and optimizing storage efficiency.
  • Implement robust security protocols for data backups, safeguarding sensitive information and adhering to industry standards.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, demonstrating a solid foundation in technical principles and methodologies.
  • At least 9 years of experience in backup engineering within data centers, showcasing mastery of backup tools, techniques, and best practices.
  • Deep knowledge of backup tools (e.g., Veritas, Veeam, Commvault, Networker), enabling effective configuration, management, and optimization.
  • Experience with tape libraries and data deduplication, optimizing storage efficiency and reducing costs.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., VMCE, NetWorker) are highly valued, indicating a commitment to professional development and staying current with industry trends.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills, allowing seamless interaction with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
