System Software Engineer

Job Summary:

As a system software engineer, you will play a pivotal role in defining and developing software solutions for complex systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify requirements, design software architectures, and implement control systems using MATLAB/Simulink.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define software requirements and develop software architectures
  • Design and develop control software using MATLAB/Simulink and test software changes on the surgical robotic system
  • Use expertise to triage defects, develop software unit tests, and review testing team's verification protocols
  • Analyze software for failure modes and develop solutions that mitigate risk
  • Contribute updates to software documentation and architecture
  • Improve software quality through design reviews and ensure compliance with organization's quality management system

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and 14-18 years of relevant experience or advanced degree and 12-16 years of relevant experience

Nice to Have:

  • Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail, with ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to build consensus and establish common goals
  • Experience developing software for commercial products, preferably in regulated industries
  • Experience developing software in Linux environment
  • Comfortable with common development tools: build automation (cmake preferred), code coverage, unit testing, static analysis, debugging, source control, etc.
  • Experience developing control software using MATLAB/SIMULINK tools
  • Basic understanding of C++
  • Experience designing software using visual modeling languages (UML, SysML)
  • Knowledge of surgical robotics
  • Fluency in English
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
