Hardware Design Manager Job Summary

This role leads the overall hardware design function, ensuring high-quality, reliable, and cost-effective solutions for air conditioning products. A strong leader with technical expertise in electronic hardware design and proven experience managing engineering teams is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead strategic planning, execution, and delivery of hardware projects in alignment with business goals.\
  • Define long-term vision, strategy, and roadmap for hardware design, aligning with business objectives and market requirements.\
  • Design and review PCBs, BOMs, and ensure EMI/EMC compliance, protection circuitry, and thermal management in hardware design.\
  • Work closely with firmware teams to define hardware-software interfaces, perform system-level debugging, and ensure robust design verification and validation processes.\
  • Ensure compliance with HVAC safety standards, documentation and approvals for electrical safety, energy efficiency, and environmental requirements.\
  • Provide regular hardware progress updates to program management and product teams, support field trials and customer evaluations, and drive continuous improvement of hardware development workflows and tools.\
  • Implement design review and approval processes, and oversee resolution of field failures and continuous product improvement.\
  • Develop and maintain design standards library, including component database, reference designs, and PCB stack-up guidelines.\
  • Coordinate with PCB layout and part development team, and manage component cost-reduction proposals without compromising performance or reliability.\
  • Standardize components across product families to reduce procurement complexity, and develop DFM/DFT guidelines incorporated into all hardware.\
  • Validate and document grounding, insulation, and surge protection strategies, and conduct root cause analysis and corrective actions for field issues related to hardware.\
  • Train hardware design team on new technologies, and implement design optimization for cost, manufacturability, and performance.\
  • Develop training plans, implementation of process improvements, and continuous enhancement of design reviews and approvals.\
