Portfolio Management Opportunities

Eligibility norms to register as a portfolio manager with regulatory bodies include:

  • The applicant is a registered body corporate.
  • The applicant should have necessary infrastructure like office space, equipment, and qualified personnel.
  • The applicant shall appoint a compliance officer.
  • The principal officer of the applicant has:
  • A professional qualification in law, finance, accountancy, or business management.
  • He has an experience of at least five years in related activities in the securities market including portfolio management, stock brokerage, investment advisory services, research analysis, or fund management.

Provided that at least 2 years of relevant experience is in portfolio management or investment advisory services or in areas related to fund management.

  • Has obtained necessary certifications.
    • Apart from the principal officer and compliance officer, the applicant has in its employment at least one person who is a graduate and has at least two years of experience in related activities in the securities market including portfolio management, stock brokerage, investment advisory services, research analysis, or fund management.
    • The applicant fulfills capital adequacy requirements and meets net worth standards.
    • Net worth includes paid-up equity capital plus free reserves minus accumulated losses and deferred expenditure.
    • Net worth requirements are separately applicable for each activity undertaken by the applicant.
    • The applicant, its directors, officers, and employees are not involved in any litigation or convicted of any offence involving moral turpitude.
    • The applicant is a fit and proper person according to regulatory criteria.
    • Granting a certificate to the applicant is in the interest of investors.
    • Application Form A will have to be filed with regulatory bodies along with the fee.
    • The fee structure includes application fees, registration fees, and renewal fees.
