About This Role

We are seeking a seasoned Principal Data Engineer to lead our data engineering efforts. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for shaping the architecture, mentoring senior engineers, and collaborating directly with stakeholders.

About The Team

You will be part of a fast-growing, innovative team driving large-scale data initiatives. Your primary focus will be on building a comprehensive roadmap for our data warehouse offerings, solving complex data modeling challenges, ensuring smooth delivery of features, and applying modern data suites.

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of 4-5 Sr. Engineers in delivering high-quality results.
  • Drive stakeholder communication, requirement gathering, and roadmap planning.
  • Identify risks and provide mitigation strategies to ensure project success.
  • Conduct peer reviews & guide best practices in coding standards.
  • Strong documentation & communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proactive, business-value-oriented mindset to drive innovation and growth.

Key Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in Data Engineering, with 4+ years leading teams in data-driven projects.
  • Strong coding expertise: Python, JVM, and Shell scripting with production-grade experience.
  • 5+ years in cloud-native, data-intensive applications with mandatory AWS expertise.
  • Proven experience in Data Warehouse design & development using modern DW tools.
  • Hands-on with Databricks and dbt (mandatory).
  • Expert in Airflow (workflow orchestration).
  • Strong experience building & maintaining Spark applications.
  • Deep understanding of file formats: Parquet, Delta Lake, OTFs.
  • Proficiency in building CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or ArgoCD).
  • Solid knowledge of unit testing & test automation frameworks.

Bonus Skills

  • Familiarity with Docker/Kubernetes for containerization.
  • Hands-on with IaC tools (Terraform, CDK, or CloudFormation).
  • Exposure to observability systems (Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana).
