Institutional Investment Operations Specialist

As an Institutional Investment Operations Representative at Wells Fargo Bank, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our investment operations. Your primary responsibility will be to perform daily manual adjustments to ensure system readiness for margining activity. Additionally, you will be responsible for all functions of the New Business team, including updating index rates, securities pricing updates, reviewing and reporting exceptions, performing various reconciliations, processing interest movements, and reporting findings to concerned parties. You will also be responsible for retaining processes on a timely manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the process of drafting, reviewing confirmations, and matching are completed on a timely basis.
- Evaluate and escalate in a timely manner within the Operations group and Middle Office to ensure prompt resolution of exceptions/disputes.
- Ensure all client queries/disputes are solved within the timelines.
- Understand the needs and sensitivities of internal and external clients and proactively ensure these are met.
- Display sound working knowledge around derivatives products, terminologies, and trade life cycle.
- Acquaint yourself with ISDA standards & definitions.
- Ensure all high-risk items are flagged off to management on a timely basis and the escalation matrix is followed.
- Involve in various system implementation UAT testing.
- Build relationships with businesses and counterparties to ensure effective escalation and timely resolutions.
- Partner with Technology to identify/resolve system issues and implement system enhancements to increase efficiency.
- Swiftly identify potential risks in operational processes; develop and implement controls to mitigate related risk.
- Display strong analytical skills to improve workflow to increase operational efficiency.
- Take complete responsibility of monitoring daily functions of Derivatives Confirmation Inbound process for the location.
- Organize the work of the team, assign tasks, set short-term priorities, monitor all activities, and ensure timely and accurate completion of work.
- Periodically review procedure documents and checklists.
- Ability to train and mentor new hires.
Requirements:
- 2+ years of Institutional Investment Operations experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.
Desired Qualifications:
- MBA or an advanced degree (or equivalent exp.).
- 2+ years of experience in OTC Derivative Confirmation.
- Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to build strong partnerships with business stakeholders and other support functions.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with demonstrated ability to manage expectations and deliver on commitments.
- Experience of working across one or more geographic territories or regions.
- Must be a good team player with a high degree of flexibility, prepared to work in a deadline-driven and fast-paced environment.
- Experience of working with senior leaders cutting across Technology, Operations, and Strategy functions is an added advantage.
- Understands Derivatives trade life cycle and associated functions.
- Good understanding on Calypso, Endur, Pega, and other industry standard applications.
- ISDA definitions.
- Excellent internal/external client handling skills.
