MongoDB Administrator Role

Job Overview:

The MongoDB Administrator is responsible for ensuring the availability, performance, and security of our MongoDB databases. This role requires a strong understanding of MongoDB architecture, data modeling, and database administration.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Database Deployment and Maintenance: Deploy and maintain MongoDB/Atlas Database projects to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Documentation and Procedures: Maintain detailed documentation of database design, architecture, and setups to facilitate knowledge sharing and best practices.
  • Backup and Recovery: Establish procedures for backup/recovery and disaster recovery to minimize downtime and data loss.
  • Performance Optimization: Administer MongoDB to achieve maximum availability and performance by implementing indexing strategies, sharding, and other optimization techniques.
  • Replica Set Configuration and Monitoring: Configure and monitor replica sets to ensure high availability and data consistency.
  • Patch Upgrades: Perform patch upgrades to keep MongoDB installations up-to-date and secure.
  • Operational Infrastructure Design: Design and build operational infrastructure to support databases, automating where possible to reduce manual intervention.
  • Security and Access Control: Establish database security procedures, including user management, role assignment, and permission control.
  • Technical Expertise: Maintain current knowledge of industry trends and standards related to MongoDB and its ecosystem.
  • User Support: Provide support to the user community using incident problem management tools to resolve issues efficiently.

Please note that this is a highly technical role requiring in-depth knowledge of MongoDB and related technologies.
