Job Opportunity

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Database Administrator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and designing scalable technology solutions that drive company success.

You will work on our new platform built using MS SQL Server and MYSQL Server, participating in all phases of the development lifecycle, implementation, maintenance, and support. We require a solid skill set, a desire to continue growing as a Database Administrator, and a team-player mentality.

  • The primary responsibility will be managing production database servers, including security, deployment, maintenance, and performance monitoring.
  • Setting up SQL Server replication, mirroring, and high availability as required across hybrid environments.
  • Designing and implementing new installations on Azure, AWS, and cloud hosting without specific DB services.
  • Deploying and maintaining on-premise installations of SQL Server on Linux/MySQL.
  • Database security and protection against SQL injection and intellectual property exploitation.
  • Collaborating with development teams to assist with data storage and query design/optimization where needed.
  • Participating in the design and implementation of essential applications.
  • Demonstrating expertise and adding valuable input throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Helping design and implement lasting technology solutions.
  • Reviewing current systems and suggesting updates as necessary.
  • Gathering requirements from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Documenting procedures to set up and maintain a highly available SQL Server database on Azure, on-premises, and Hybrid environments.
  • Testing and debugging new applications and updates.
  • Resolving reported issues and responding to queries in a timely manner.
  • Staying up-to-date on current best practices, trends, and industry developments.
  • Identifying potential challenges and bottlenecks to address them proactively.
Key Competencies/Skillsets
  • SQL Server management in Hybrid environments (on-premises and cloud, preferably Azure, AWS).
  • MySQL Backup, SQL Server Backup, Replication, Clustering, Log shipping experience on Linux/Windows.
  • Setting up, managing, and maintaining SQL Server/MySQL on Linux.
  • Experience with database usage and management.
  • Experience in implementing Azure Hyperscale databases.
  • Experience in Financial Services/E-Commerce/Payments industries preferred.
  • Familiarity with multi-tier, object-oriented, secure application design architecture.
  • Experience in cloud environments, preferably Microsoft Azure, on Database service tiers.
  • Experience with PCI DSS is beneficial.
  • SQL development experience is advantageous.
  • Linux experience is beneficial.
  • Proficiency in using issue tracking tools like Jira.
  • Proficiency in using version control systems like Git, SVN.
  • Strong understanding of web-based applications and technologies.
  • Sense of ownership and pride in your performance and its impact on company success.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate with clients via various channels.
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience as SQL Server DBA and MySQL DBA, and 2+ years of experience as MySQL DBA, including Replication, InnoDB Cluster, Upgrading, and Patching.
  • Ubuntu Linux knowledge is beneficial.
  • MCTS, MCITP, and/or MVP/Azure DBA/MySQL certifications are advantageous.
