Forge Engineer

Job Summary:

  • Drive the development and implementation of forging operations, focusing on hot, warm, or cold forging techniques.
  • Review product designs to ensure their feasibility for forging processes.
  • Collaborate with the tooling department to oversee die and tooling design.
  • Utilize simulation software to validate and optimize forging processes.
  • Support new product launches from concept to production phase.
  • Process Engineering & Optimization:
  • Develop process flow charts, forging sequences, and layouts for new and existing components.
  • Standardize forging parameters and implement best practices.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to reduce cycle time, scrap, and rework.
  • Work closely with quality, production, and maintenance teams to troubleshoot and solve shop floor issues.
  • Documentation & Quality:
  • Prepare and maintain process documentation.
  • Support PPAP/APQP documentation and customer approvals for new components.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO/TS/IATF standards and customer-specific requirements.
  • Team & Vendor Coordination:
  • Lead a team of design and process engineers.
  • Collaborate with vendors, suppliers, and machinery OEMs.
  • Provide technical support to production and training for engineers and operators.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical / Metallurgical / Production Engineering.
  • M.Tech or PG Diploma in Forging Technology (preferred).

Experience:

  • 8+ years of relevant experience in forging engineering, preferably in automotive, aerospace, oil & gas, or industrial sectors.
  • Hands-on experience in forging simulation, die design, and process optimization.

Key Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of forging processes.
  • Proficiency in CAD and simulation software.
  • Understanding of metallurgy, material flow, and heat treatment processes.
  • Experience in lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement tools.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
