Backend Software Engineer – Critical Systems Developer


Description

PetYosa is building a pioneering AI-powered pet super app and smart collar ecosystem. This innovative platform integrates pet health, vet services, grooming, boarding, e-commerce, and community into a single intelligent experience.

This role involves architecting APIs, thinking end-to-end about reliability and scalability, and shipping features that deliver real value to users. You will own critical backend systems that power bookings, payments, collar telemetry ingestion, medical records, and marketplace workflows.

Responsibilities
  1. Design and implement scalable REST/GraphQL APIs and microservices that drive PetYosa's core flows (vet bookings, petBNB, orders, payments, FitYosa telemetry ingestion).
  2. Develop data models and database schemas optimized for performance and operational simplicity.
  3. Implement robust authentication, authorization, payment integrations, audit trails, and secure data handling for medical/health data.
  4. Design and operate data ingestion pipelines for FitYosa devices (telemetry location analytics) ensuring durability and near-real-time processing.
  5. Implement caching, queuing, and backpressure strategies to maintain system performance under load.
  6. Ship observability (structured logs, metrics, traces) and create runbooks for common operational scenarios.
  7. Write production-quality tests, CI/CD pipelines, and support release management and incident response.
Requirements
  1. 2–4 years of experience building production backend systems with Node.js and frameworks like Express/Nest.
  2. Strong experience with PostgreSQL and/or MongoDB schema design indexing query optimization.
  3. Practical knowledge of caching (Redis) and message queues (Kafka/RabbitMQ/SQS).
  4. Cloud experience deploying services setting up infrastructure and managing costs.
  5. Familiarity with Docker and basic orchestration concepts.
  6. Practical understanding of security best practices.
  7. Track record of owning features end-to-end and shipping in a fast iterative environment.
