Job Description

As a memory layout engineer, you will have the opportunity to design and optimize layouts for custom memories such as SRAM and Register Files. Your expertise in layout design will enable you to work collaboratively with circuit designers to understand schematics and translate them into optimized layouts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Floor-planning: Plan and organize the physical layout of memory components to ensure efficient use of space.
  • Placement: Position memory components on a silicon die to minimize area and optimize performance.
  • Matching: Ensure that memory components are properly connected and function correctly.
  • Routing: Design and implement signal routing to connect memory components.
  • Parasitics: Understand and mitigate the effects of parasitic capacitance and resistance on memory performance.
  • Layout Constraints: Implement constraints to ensure proper layout and functionality.

Requirements:

  • Advanced process nodes (5nm and below): Proficiency in designing memory layouts for advanced process nodes is required.
  • Scripting experience: Familiarity with scripting languages such as SKILL, Python, or TCL is essential.
  • Custom-based memories or compiler-based memories: Experience in designing custom or compiler-based memories is necessary.
  • High-performance and/or low-power memory layout optimization techniques: Knowledge of techniques to optimize memory layout for high-performance and/or low-power applications is desired.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in memory layout design.
