Overview of the Project Engineer Role

The Project Engineer is a critical member of an engineering stream that provides services to large and small projects. This role reports to the Project Manager and Engineering Manager and involves supervising a team of engineers and designers. The Project Engineer provides leadership and technical support in resolving issues related to their discipline.

Key Responsibilities and Skills

  • Air Conditioning System:
  • Perform calculations for heat load, static pressure, and pump head.
  • Select and develop air conditioning system schemes, BOQs, and cost estimates.
  • Analyze input/output data and list requirements for heat load calculations.
  • Applications include MCC rooms, control rooms, UPS/battery rooms, and various types of buildings.
  • Be aware of Indian and international codes and standards.
  • Ventilation System:
  • Calculate air quantity using Dry Ventilation System and Air Washer systems.
  • Select fans and airwashers based on size, load, and utility requirements.
  • Review and guide teams working on multiple projects.
  • Project Management:
  • Understand MS Project schedules and critical paths.
  • Prepare drawing and document lists for HVAC systems.
  • Participate in design review meetings and support project requirements.
  • Support cost and time control.
  • Develop drawings, BOQs, and cost estimates for duct layouts and air flow diagrams.
  • Coordinate with vendors for approval of drawings and documents.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Postgraduate or graduate degree in an engineering discipline.
  • Registration as a professional engineer with the governing authority (preferable).
