As a senior underwriter, you will play a key role in reviewing mortgage files submitted for review. Your primary responsibilities include assessing income, analyzing debt and assets, as well as conducting a thorough examination of the completed appraisal and title.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct a comprehensive review of mortgage loan files including income, assets, credit and collateral
- Utilize client data to ensure accurate data entry
- Underwrite loans in accordance with established guidelines, utilizing automated systems or manual processes
- Evaluate and ensure overall loan documents are accurate, complete, and compliant
- Ability to identify and/or resolve potential issues
- Issue loan decisions and conditions accordingly
- Review and approve conditions for compliance and completion of loan file
- Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external clients
You must possess strong knowledge of income calculations, tax returns, reading credit reports, identifying red flags, and basic understanding of appraisal and ability to recognize potential issues and ineligible properties. You should also be detail-oriented with strong ability to manage time effectively and work in a flexible production-oriented environment.
Requirements- Minimum 2+ years current conventional mortgage loan underwriting experience
- Strong analytical, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills
- NMLS-MLO Licensure preferred
