Job Description

The Threat Intelligence Lead plays a pivotal role in shaping Canonical's threat intelligence strategy and execution, driving our understanding of cyber threat actors targeting the company. This individual will utilize intelligence on Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTP) to enhance our products and internal cybersecurity controls.

This position requires collaboration with internal stakeholders as well as the wider cybersecurity community to establish Canonical as a thought leader on open source threat intelligence. The successful candidate will report to the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO).

This critical role involves leading intelligence gathering and development activities on threat actors targeting software supply chains. The ideal candidate will study attack trends across the open source software landscape, report findings to internal security teams, and advise the engineering community on detecting and mitigating potential threats.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Threat Intelligence Leadership: An experienced leader with a strong background in threat intelligence is essential for this role.
  • Open Source Intelligence (OSINT): Proficiency in OSINT tools such as Buscador, Trace Labs OSINT VM, OSINT Framework, Maltego, Shodan, and social media scraping tools is required.
  • Adversary Tradecraft Trends: The ability to identify, organize, catalogue, and track adversary tradecraft trends using incomplete data is crucial.
  • Enterprise Architecture Influence: Experience using threat intelligence data to influence enterprise architecture or product development decisions is necessary.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills to articulate technical content to various audiences are vital.
