Job Title: Sample Collection Specialist

 

About the Role:

This is a fantastic opportunity to join our laboratory team as a Sample Collection Specialist. As a key member of our staff, you will play a crucial role in collecting various bodily fluid samples from patients for diagnostic testing.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Patient Interaction: Greet patients, explain the sample collection process, and obtain informed consent.
  • Sample Collection: Perform venipuncture, draw blood, and collect urine or other bodily fluids as required.
  • Sample Labeling and Processing: Accurately label samples with patient details and ensure proper handling and storage to maintain sample integrity.
  • Quality Control: Follow established protocols for sample collection, including proper needle selection, tube usage, and adherence to chain of custody procedures.
  • Data Entry: Record patient information and sample details into the laboratory information system.
  • Patient Care: Monitor patients for adverse reactions during sample collection and provide necessary comfort measures.
  • Maintenance and Cleaning: Regularly check and calibrate phlebotomy equipment, maintain cleanliness and safety, and adhere to infection control practices.

 

Requirements:

  • Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT)
  • Current certification and license to practice phlebotomy
  • Strong venipuncture skills and knowledge of anatomy
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow standardized procedures
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients effectively
