Job Overview

  • AI Safety Specialist Role

As an AI safety specialist, you will play a key role in protecting our organization's language models from potential harm. Your primary responsibility will be to develop and implement strategies for mitigating the risks associated with large language model-based applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Risk Mitigation: Create protective barriers for prompt injection, toxicity/bias detection, and hallucination/jailbreak identification.
  • Model Evaluation: Develop frameworks to monitor fairness, compliance, and safety of language models.
  • Output Evaluation: Use Python and SQL to process, tag, and evaluate model outputs.
  • Content Detection: Leverage vector databases and embeddings to identify potentially hazardous content or model drift.
  • Insight Visualization: Create internal dashboards and visualizations using Streamlit, Dash, or lightweight React/JS.
  • Collaboration: Work with engineers and product teams to integrate safety components into production APIs or applications.
  • Staying Current: Stay updated on the latest developments in AI safety, emerging tools, and regulatory standards.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Data Science Experience: 1-3 years of experience in data science, applied machine learning, or large language model-based applications.
  • Programming Skills: Strong programming skills in Python and experience writing SQL for data exploration or feature engineering.
  • NLP and Deep Learning Knowledge: Solid understanding of natural language processing, deep learning (CNN/RNN/Transformers), and large language model architectures.
  • Hands-on Experience: Hands-on experience with Hugging Face, LangChain, LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic), and vector stores (FAISS, Pinecone, Chroma).
  • Additional Requirements: Familiarity with front-end basics (Streamlit, Dash, or simple HTML/CSS/JS) is a plus, not mandatory.
  • Safety Expertise: Experience with model evaluation, red-teaming, or safety interventions in NLP/LLM systems.
  • Deployment Experience: (Preferred) Familiarity with deploying ML pipelines in production (Docker, FastAPI) and ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.
