Key Data Engineer Role

We seek a highly skilled and experienced individual to lead our data platform efforts.

This senior engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and operating production-grade data pipelines. They will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to drive technical direction, run design reviews, and coach engineers on best practices.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Technical leadership: Oversee milestone scope, manage dependencies and risks, unblock engineers, communicate status to stakeholders, and ensure timely delivery of outcomes.
  • Architecture & direction: Define target states and data contracts, make build/buy decisions, author RFCs, drive cost/performance guardrails, and reliability patterns.
  • Data pipelines: Design, build, and operate reliable batch and change-driven pipelines, schedule/orchestrate jobs, handle schema evolution and failures effectively.

To excel in this position, you should have:

  • Proven leadership experience, including leading engineers or owning large projects.
  • Strong SQL fundamentals, including tuning, indexing, and query plans.
  • Proficiency in Python programming for data work and services, as well as shell scripting.
  • Terraform and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) fundamentals.
  • Cloud experience, preferably Azure or AWS.

Prior experience mentoring, interviewing, onboarding, and raising code quality standards is also valuable, as is regulatory/compliance awareness.
