Job Overview

We're seeking a seasoned Search Engineer to lead the development and implementation of cutting-edge search solutions.

  • Our ideal candidate will design and architect advanced search features using OpenSearch/Elasticsearch, ensuring seamless integration with our existing infrastructure.
  • They will create and maintain index templates, mappings, and lifecycle policies to guarantee data integrity, performance, and scalability.
  • With expertise in AI/ML/LLM powered search, they will develop custom query builders and search pipelines tailored to complex business requirements.
  • The successful candidate will also build and maintain robust, scalable APIs for search using Python (FastAPI).
  • In addition, they will lead efforts in integration, regression, and performance testing to ensure reliability and accuracy of search features.
  • DevOps skills, including automation, CI/CD, and cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred), are essential for this role.
  • A deep understanding of search concepts, including analysers, tokenisers, relevance tuning, custom scoring, and query DSL, is required.
Requirements
  • 5+ years experience with Elasticsearch or OpenSearch in production environments.
  • Experience with AI/LLM-based search experiences such as RAG, learning to rank, and query understanding.
  • Expert level expertise in Python, with experience building APIs (preferably FastAPI).
  • Proficiency in designing and optimizing search pipelines and custom query builders.
  • Must have practical hands-on experience developing software using AI-assisted tools and workflows.
  • Strong testing background: integration, regression, and performance testing.
  • DevOps skills: automation, CI/CD, and cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred).
