Job Title: Medical Coding Training Manager

The primary objective of this role is to oversee and manage the development of medical coders within an organization. This involves designing, implementing, and monitoring training programs to ensure compliance with coding standards and regulations.

This position requires collaboration with various departments to identify training needs, develop training materials, and evaluate program effectiveness.

  • Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in clinical sciences or a related field.
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or equivalent certification required.
  • Experience:
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in medical coding, with at least 5 years in a training or supervisory role.
  • In-depth knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and other relevant coding systems.
  • Experience in multispecialty.
  • Skills:
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in using medical coding software and e-learning platforms.
  • Ability to analyze data and generate actionable insights.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, train, and supervise a team of medical coding trainers.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching and mentorship.
  • Develop career development plans for coding staff to foster growth and advancement.
  • Design and develop comprehensive training programs for new medical coding specialties.
  • Update training materials regularly to reflect the latest coding standards, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Implement e-learning platforms and tools to enhance training accessibility and engagement.
  • Work closely with the medical coding team, billing department, and other relevant departments to ensure cohesive training strategies.
  • Track and report on training program effectiveness, coder performance, and compliance metrics.
  • Analyze coding data to identify trends, training needs, and areas for improvement.
  • Prepare and present regular reports to senior management on training outcomes and coder performance.
