Job Overview

Senior Manager – Design and Engineering for Solar EPC Projects

This role is focused on reviewing, validating, and approving engineering designs and drawings prepared by external consultants for ground-mounted solar projects. The ideal candidate will have expertise in PV system design, grid connectivity, substation interface, and protection systems.

Main Responsibilities
  • Design Review & Validation
  1. Review and validate consultant-submitted documents, including SLDs, GA drawings, layouts, and equipment sizing.
  2. Evaluate designs for compliance with IEC/IS codes, MNRE, DISCOM, and CEA requirements.
  3. Assess constructability, safety, and long-term performance of proposed designs.
  4. Verify reports from PVsyst, energy yield assessments, and equipment selection.
  • Approval & Coordination
  1. Provide timely technical approvals of consultant deliverables.
  2. Collaborate with consultants, clients, and regulatory bodies for design clarifications and approvals.
  3. Ensure alignment between engineering documents, project BOQ, specifications, and contract requirements.
  • Project Execution Support
  1. Guide project teams by addressing design-related queries.
  2. Monitor implementation to ensure adherence to approved designs.
  3. Review as-built drawings and handover documentation.
  • Optimization & Risk Mitigation
  1. Identify potential design gaps, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  2. Recommend cost-optimizing measures without compromising quality.
  3. Guarantee reliability, safety, and efficiency in final designs.
  • Leadership & Teamwork
  1. Lead internal review meetings.
  2. Mentor junior engineers in design review processes.
  3. Cross-functionally collaborate with procurement, execution, and quality teams.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • B.E./B.Tech in Electrical/Power/Renewable Energy (M.Tech preferred).
  • 10–15 years of experience in solar EPC projects, with significant exposure to design review and approvals.
  • Expertise in PV system design (DC & AC side), grid connectivity, substation interface, and protection systems.
  • Familiarity with PVsyst, AutoCAD, and electrical design software.
  • Proven ability to manage consultants and ensure quality deliverables.
