Job Title:

Vernacular Communication Specialist

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Vernacular Communication Specialist to join our mission at promoting animal rights.

The successful candidate will be responsible for translating content from English to Hindi, coordinating vernacular outreach, and managing social media platforms.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Translate written English content into accurate and meaningful Hindi for various campaign materials.
  • Coordinate with freelance translators and proofreaders working in other Indian languages to ensure smooth delivery of multilingual content.
  • Assist in managing and maintaining the Hindi website, including uploading content and ensuring regular updates.
  • Support content development and management of regional social media platforms, including responding to followers with approved replies.
  • Collaborate with teams to create and adapt Hindi creatives for social media use.
  • Stay informed about ongoing and upcoming campaigns to ensure consistency across all content.
  • Maintain a positive, professional mindset and meet assigned deadlines.
  • Apply a strong understanding of animal rights to all translation and coordination work.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements:

  • Minimum two years of practical experience in translation from English to Hindi.
  • Strong coordination skills and ability to effectively manage a team of freelance translators.
  • Excellent translation skill from English to Hindi and verbal communication skills in both languages.
  • Strong understanding of social media trends and engagement practices.
  • Experience with website and social media content management is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer applications.
  • Strong time-management, organisational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong alignment with PETA India's philosophy and commitment to its objectives.
