Procurement Manager Job Overview

The Procurement Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless acquisition of essential raw materials for production.

This position involves developing strategic procurement plans, managing supplier relationships, optimizing cost-effectiveness, and maintaining timely delivery of high-quality raw materials.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Procurement Lifecycle Management:
    • Review Purchase Requisitions and initiate RFQs as per plan received from the planning team.
    • Prepare comparative quote sheets, negotiate optimal prices, and issue POs to designated approvers.
    • Adhere to established Procurement SOPs.
    • Ensure on-time-in-full (OTIF) material delivery, diligent follow-ups with suppliers, and timely payments, reconciliations, etc.
  • Strategic Sourcing:
    • Develop and implement procurement strategies to ensure cost efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Analyze market trends, identify potential risks, and opportunities in the raw materials market.
  • Supplier Partnerships:
    • Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, cost, and delivery capabilities.
    • Nurture strong relationships with suppliers, negotiate favorable terms and conditions.
    • Monitor supplier performance, address any issues or concerns promptly.
  • Cost Optimization:
    • Manage the procurement budget for raw materials, ensuring compliance with financial targets.
    • Implement cost-saving initiatives, continuously seeking opportunities to reduce procurement costs.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Ensure that all procured raw materials meet required quality standards and specifications.
    • Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to address quality issues, implement corrective actions.
  • Inventory Control:
    • Work closely with the Inventory Management team to maintain optimal stock levels of raw materials.
    • Implement inventory control measures to minimize wastage, reduce excess stock.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
    • Ensure adherence to relevant regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
    • Identify potential risks in the procurement process, develop mitigation strategies.
  • Team Collaboration:
    • Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture within the procurement team.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in procurement, focusing on raw materials.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement principles, practices, and strategies.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage supplier relationships, build strong partnerships.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and tools; SAP expertise a must.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in the Pesticide industry.
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements related to raw materials procurement.
