Backend Software Engineer

The role of a Backend Software Engineer involves designing, developing and maintaining the server-side logic, databases and APIs that power our web applications.

This includes:

  • Developing and maintaining server-side applications and services using programming languages such as Python, Java and JavaScript.
  • Designing and implementing RESTful APIs and microservices for scalable applications.
  • Managing and optimizing databases to ensure data integrity and performance.
  • Collaborating with front-end developers to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.
  • Implementing security and data protection measures for applications.
  • Conducting code reviews, providing feedback and ensuring adherence to best practices.
  • Troubleshooting and debugging issues in existing applications and services.
  • Participating in the full software development lifecycle, including planning, design, implementation and testing.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Years of experience in back-end development.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java and JavaScript.
  • Experience with web frameworks such as Django and Spring.
  • A strong understanding of database management systems.
  • Familiarity with cloud services is a plus.
  • An understanding of software development methodologies such as Agile and Scrum.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Experience with containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD processes and tools such as Jenkins and GitHub Actions.
  • Familiarity with testing frameworks and automated testing practices.
