Trainee Laboratory Technician Job Description

Overview:

This role involves participating in on-the-job training to learn laboratory procedures, safety protocols, and relevant scientific principles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the collection, preparation, labeling, and storage of laboratory samples, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established protocols.
  • Learn to operate and maintain laboratory equipment, such as microscopes, spectrophotometers, centrifuges, and pipettes, following standard procedures.
  • Accurately record experimental data, measurements, and observations in laboratory notebooks or electronic systems.
  • Assist with quality control procedures, including calibration and maintenance of equipment, to ensure accurate and reliable results.
  • Follow safety guidelines and laboratory protocols to maintain a safe working environment for oneself and colleagues.
  • Participate in laboratory cleaning, waste disposal, and general maintenance to ensure a clean and organized workspace.
  • Adhere to laboratory regulations, safety standards, and quality control procedures.
  • Communicate findings, results, and issues to senior laboratory staff as required.
