Data engineers are responsible for designing, building, and maintaining data systems that meet business requirements. Their role requires proactive problem-solving skills, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and ensuring high standards of data quality and performance.

The job involves understanding the organization's values and vision, adhering to policies and procedures, and protecting intellectual property. Key responsibilities include designing scalable data pipelines for ingestion, processing, and storage, as well as building and optimizing data architectures and models for efficient data storage and retrieval.

Data engineers also develop ETL processes to transform and load data from various sources into data warehouses and lakes, ensuring data integrity, quality, and security across all data systems. They work closely with data scientists, analysts, and stakeholders to deliver solutions that meet business needs and monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines and workflows to ensure high availability and performance.

Documenting data processes, architectures, and data flow diagrams is also an essential part of the job, as is implementing and maintaining data integration solutions using industry-standard tools and technologies.
