Lead Programmer Role

Our team is looking for a highly skilled Lead Programmer to join our statistics and programming department. This role will involve providing expert programming support across various projects, clients, and therapeutic areas.

The ideal candidate will have excellent skills in SAS and SQL programming, as well as the ability to implement complex logic. They must also be comfortable with creating complex analysis data sets derived from multiple data sources, while carefully considering outliers and errors.

  • Experience with R programming is preferred, but proficiency in SAS is a must.
  • Therapeutic area experience is not required, but a background in rare diseases is a plus.
  • Real-world healthcare claims database experience is essential, and experience with EU databases equivalent to US Market scan/Optum is acceptable.
  • OMOP-Common Data Model experience is highly valued, even if it's just 1 year of familiarity.
  • Strong communication, time management, enthusiasm, and documentation skills are necessary for success in this position.
Technical Requirements

Proficiency in R and SQL programming is essential. Expertise in Oncology databases such as Flatiron or COTA is also desirable. A good understanding of Oncology-specific analyses, such as Line of Therapy algorithms and Survival analysis, is necessary. Experience with R Shiny or Instant Health Data (IHD) is preferable. Analytic Datasets and patient cohorts experience is also beneficial.

Minimum Qualification Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or other subjects with high statistical content.
  • Minimum 7-8 years SAS statistical programming experience.
  • Database programming using SQL.
  • Experience with advanced statistical methods such as Survival and Regression.
  • Experience with real-world healthcare claims and EHR data such as MarketScan, Optum, and Medicare databases.
Other Information/Additional Requirements
  • Master's degree in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Computer Science, or other subjects with high statistical content.
  • Training or experience using the OMOP Common Data Model.
  • Training or experience with Python, R, Databricks, or other cloud-based software.
  • Pharmaceutical industry experience.
  • Training or experience in epidemiological methods.
