As a seasoned professional, you will lead the design, implementation and automation of enterprise-grade Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) environments. Your technical expertise in PKI architecture and certificate lifecycle management will be crucial in this role.

Key Responsibilities:
  • PKI Design & Implementation:
    • Architect and deploy secure, scalable PKI infrastructure including Root and Subordinate Certificate Authorities (CAs), Certificate Revocation Lists (CRLs), Online Certificate Status Protocol (OCSP) responders, and Hardware Security Modules (HSMs).
    • Define certificate policies, trust models, and key usage standards to ensure the integrity and security of the PKI environment.
    • Lead PKI upgrades, migrations, and disaster recovery initiatives to minimize downtime and maintain business continuity.
    • Collaborate with enterprise architects and security teams to align PKI with organizational security strategy and objectives.
  • Certificate Lifecycle Management:
    • Manage the full lifecycle of digital certificates: issuance, renewal, revocation, and expiration.
    • Implement and maintain certificate management automation tools such as Venafi, AppViewX, and Keyfactor to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
    • Integrate certificate management with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines and cloud platforms like Azure, AWS, and GCP.
    • Monitor certificate health and compliance using automated dashboards and alerting systems to identify potential issues before they become major problems.
  • Security & Compliance:
    • Ensure that PKI systems adhere to internal security policies and external standards such as NIST and ISO 27001.
    • Conduct regular audits and vulnerability assessments of PKI infrastructure to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
    • Maintain comprehensive documentation for PKI architecture, processes, and procedures to facilitate knowledge sharing and onboarding of new team members.
  • Support & Troubleshooting:
    • Serve as the highest level of escalation for PKI-related incidents and provide timely support to resolve issues and minimize downtime.
    • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to Level 1 and Level 2 support teams to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively.
    • Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to resolve certificate-related issues and ensure seamless integration with other systems and services.

Strong communication skills are essential to explain complex PKI concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

A team-oriented mindset is required to work cross-functionally with security, infrastructure, and application teams to achieve common goals and objectives.
