Database Migration Strategist Lead

About the Job:

  • This position involves leading end-to-end database migration lifecycle across assessment, planning, execution, validation, and post-migration optimization.
  • The ideal candidate will be responsible for defining and driving migration strategy, methodologies, and best practices for zero/near-zero downtime, HA/DR.
Main Responsibilities
  1. Plan, design, and execute Oracle database migrations across various environments.
  2. Perform end-to-end database backup and recovery using Rubrik for backup orchestration and recovery, and RMAN for backup/restore operations, incremental (delta) syncs, and PITR (Point-in-Time Recovery).
  3. Implement delta data synchronization strategies for near-zero downtime migration.
  4. Use Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) for database performance monitoring, health checks, proactive alerting, migration tracking, and validation.
  5. Collaborate with cloud architects, infrastructure teams, and application owners to ensure smooth migration with minimal business disruption.
Key Skills Required
  • 10+ years of Oracle Database experience, with 5+ years in leadership/managerial roles overseeing database migration programs.
  • Proven track record of managing large-scale Oracle migrations in multi-cloud, Exadata, and ExaCC environments.
  • Strong experience with Oracle Exadata administration, migration, and performance tuning, as well as Oracle Data Guard setup, switchover, failover, and role transitions.
  • Rubrik and RMAN expertise, including hands-on experience with cloud-native database solutions in AWS and Azure.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management capabilities.
Bonus Skills
  • Familiarity with Terraform/Ansible for IaC-based DB provisioning.
  • Experience in hybrid migration scenarios, such as on-prem to Exadata, Exadata to ExaCC, or ExaCC to cloud.
  • Exposure to DevOps pipelines for automated DB deployment.
