Mortgage Underwriter Position

We are seeking a highly skilled Mortgage Underwriter to join our team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for auditing loans underwritten by credit officers to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and bank policies. They will analyze customer financial positions, employment history, credit history, and ability to repay, ensuring that all lending regulations are adhered to.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Loan Application Assessment: Evaluating loan applications to determine their feasibility and adherence to lending guidelines.
  • Creditworthiness Evaluation: Assessing the creditworthiness of customers to determine the risk associated with lending to them.
  • Income Verification: Verifying the income of borrowers to ensure that they can afford to repay the loan.
  • Risk Analysis: Analyzing the risk associated with each loan application and making recommendations for approval or decline.
  • Property Valuation Review: Reviewing property valuations to ensure that they are accurate and compliant with lending guidelines.
  • Reviewing Loan-to-Value Ratio (LVR): Ensuring that the LVR is within acceptable limits and compliant with regulatory requirements.
  • Approval or Declination of Loans: Making final decisions on loan approvals or declinations based on the analysis and evaluation conducted.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Australian, US, or UK lending regulations and experience in Mortgage Underwriting and Quality in Australian, USA, or UK mortgage domains.
