Conventional Mortgage Specialist

The role involves reviewing, conditioning and underwriting mortgage loans according to established policies and procedures.

This requires thorough examination of all documentation for accuracy and completeness.

Expertise in income calculation and debt-to-income ratio calculation is crucial. Familiarity with the 4C's framework (credit, capacity, collateral, and capital) is also essential.

Mortgage loan applications must be reviewed and analyzed to ensure eligibility, accuracy, completeness and compliance with internal and regulatory guidelines.

All required loan data, reports and inspections must be reviewed to ensure the collateral is acceptable to investors.

Key responsibilities include lending and underwriting guidelines, credit and income analysis, cash flow analysis, risk assessment, loan-to-value ratios and debt-to-income ratios.

The specialist must make independent decisions regarding acceptance and risk of loans according to HUD and investor guidelines.

Final approval underwriting of mortgage loans, completing paperwork and forms in a timely and accurate manner, and preparing documents are required.

Effective communication skills and high customer service standards are essential for this role which may involve working with staff and management to find solutions on escalated loans.

A bachelor's degree or equivalent is required as well as a minimum of 3 years experience in conventional/govt end-to-end underwriting.
