Job Title: Chief Payables Officer

Reports to: Financial Director

The Head of Payables is responsible for leading and overseeing the accounts payable function, managing vendor payments, team operations, process improvement, and compliance to ensure robust financial performance and accurate records.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of all payments, vendor invoices, and expense reports.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor payables policies and procedures for efficiency, compliance, and control.
  • Lead the accounts payable team, including hiring, training, goal setting, and ongoing development.
  • Review, validate, and approve invoices; ensure adherence to company policies, contractual terms, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage vendor relationships and resolve payment disputes or queries.
  • Maintain accurate records and reconciliations; oversee month-end and year-end closing processes for payables.
  • Optimize payables processes, automation, and risk prevention controls.
  • Prepare, analyze, and report on payables metrics: aging, cash flow, forecasts, and performance.
  • Coordinate with procurement, treasury, and accounting teams to ensure alignment and timely payments.
  • Support financial audits with documentation and process narratives.
  • Drive continuous improvement in payables efficiency, quality, and compliance.
Requirements

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a similar role or equivalent position.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
