Database Team Lead

This is a leadership role that will lead and develop a high-performing team responsible for managing databases. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, leadership acumen, and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and mentor a team of database administrators.
  • Develop and enforce database security and compliance standards.
  • Contribute to infrastructure design and architecture planning initiatives.
  • Implement automation for provisioning, patching, and administration using PowerShell, Python, or Ansible.
  • Monitor databases, servers, and storage to proactively resolve performance bottlenecks.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support infrastructure database needs.
  • Document database configurations and operational procedures.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Computer Science or related field with 4–6 years of relevant experience OR Bachelor's degree with 6–8 years of relevant experience OR Diploma with 10–12 years of relevant experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of Oracle and SQL Server administration.
  • Demonstrated experience in automating database tasks.
  • Proficiency with database performance, monitoring, and troubleshooting tools.
  • Understanding of OS-level tools for troubleshooting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with ITIL frameworks and industry best practices.
  • Proven experience in high-performance teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with MSSQL AAG, Oracle RAC, and Oracle Data Guard.
  • Experience working in regulated environments.
  • Proficient in Ansible and PowerShell automation.
  • Experience with MySQL and PostgreSQL support.
Certifications:
  • Database certifications such as OCP (Oracle Certified Professional) or MCSP (Microsoft Certified Solutions Professional).
Soft Skills:
  • Effective stakeholder communication and expectation management.
  • Crisis management skills under pressure.
  • Ability to influence, persuade, and negotiate across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Team-oriented with a solution-driven mindset.
