Database Specialist

As a Database Specialist, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining MongoDB/Atlas databases to ensure optimal performance and availability.

This role requires expertise in deploying, configuring, and administering MongoDB/Atlas databases as well as designing and implementing sharding and indexing strategies. Additionally, you will establish procedures for backup, recovery, and disaster recovery to minimize downtime.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Deploying, maintaining, and configuring MongoDB/Atlas databases and related projects.
  • Maintaining detailed documentation of database design, architecture, and setups.
  • Establishing procedures for backup, recovery, and disaster recovery.
  • Administering MongoDB to achieve maximum availability and performance.
  • Designing and implementing sharding and indexing strategies for MongoDB.
  • Configuring and monitoring replica sets.
  • Performing patch upgrades.
  • Designing and building operational infrastructure to support databases, automating where possible.
  • Establishing database security procedures.
  • Creating users, assigning roles, and managing permissions.
  • Maintaining current knowledge of industry trends and standards.
  • Providing support to the user community using incident problem management tools.
