Category Manager - FMCG

 

  • We are seeking an experienced Category Manager to lead our National & Regional FMCG brands. This is a critical role that requires strong leadership and negotiation skills, as well as the ability to develop and implement category development initiatives.
  • The successful candidate will have a proven track record of leading teams, conducting training programs, and collaborating with vendors to drive sales growth and profitability.
  • Key responsibilities include:
  1. Leading a team of 8-10 members in buying National & Regional FMCG brands.
  2. Conducting classroom and on-the-job training for team members, grooming them to take on more responsibilities.
  3. Coordinating with key vendor partners for negotiations, forecasting, and category development initiatives.
  4. Working closely with various teams to maximize off-takes and ensure best promotions in stores.
  5. Developing and discussing monthly and quarterly plans with FMCG vendors, including demand planning and smooth supplies to stores.
  6. Training and grooming purchase officers and assistant purchase managers on the job and in classroom settings.
  7. Maintaining competitive pricing in the market and ensuring availability of products in DCs and stores.

 

 

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Graduate/Post Graduate/MBA with minimum 10 years of experience in FMCG Sales.
  • Experience in General Trade is preferred, along with managing a similar role.
  • Knowledge of local language/location of posting and willingness to travel are essential.
  • Good communication, negotiation, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Excellent team management and training skills are necessary to manage a large team and train/groom team members.
