Project Manager IT

This role manages the project management office for IT projects. The PMO Manager oversees the governance, enforces frameworks, and ensures successful execution of all IT projects.

The position plays a hands-on project management role for critical IT initiatives and leads a team of project managers and coordinators.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for the IT portfolio processes, including planning, governance, methodology framework, and resource capacity management.
  • Ensure project management standards and practices are implemented across the IT project portfolio.
  • Supervise and mentor the project management team, including performance reviews, career growth, and training.
  • Create and maintain staffing plans for internal and external resources.
  • Analyse project proposals to determine timelines, funding, and required processes.
  • Provide leadership and motivation to project teams through all project phases.
  • Implement effective project communication, including steering committee meetings and status reports.
  • Manage project risks and issues, and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure alignment of project goals with business objectives and manage delivery on time and within budget.
  • Employ agile methodologies while operating within the organization's SDLC framework.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Minimum of 7+ years' experience in project management of complex IT projects.
  • Deep understanding of agile frameworks.
  • Project Management Professional certification.
  • Background in Business Analysis.
  • Proven experience managing an IT Portfolio or PMO.
  • Prior team leadership/supervisory experience.
  • Experience managing external vendors and contract staff.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, capable of engaging both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to set and meet goals, define schedules, allocate resources, and implement processes.
  • Strong ability to navigate ambiguity and bring clarity to teams.
  • Experience in software product development life cycles is mandatory.
  • Experience in the banking or financial services domain is required.
