Compliance Engagement Lead

This is an opportunity to join a team and take on a leadership role in managing Sales & Use Tax compliance engagements. The right candidate will be responsible for leading end-to-end engagements, supporting workflow and team coordination, guiding the onboarding process for new clients, and championing process improvements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage full compliance cycles from data retrieval to filing, payments, and reconciliation.
  • Develop and maintain state-specific workflows and incorporate nuances into processes.
  • Effectively communicate with clients (internal & external) and foster open communication within the team.
  • Ensure accuracy and attention to detail in repetitive tasks and provide guidance to junior staff members.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field (required).
  • Master's degree in Accounting beneficial; Master's in Taxation preferred.
Experience
  • 6+ years of experience in Sales and Use Tax Compliance.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Skilled in state tax return mechanics and familiar with client financial data.
Technical Skills
  • Proficient with:
  • Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Vertex or similar SUT applications.
  • Familiarity with:
  • Database software.
  • e-filing, EDI, ACH Debit/Credit.
Core Competencies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.
  • Proven stakeholder relationship management skills.
